教材分析

What:This is a short listening conversation about the date.

Why:Let students know how to asking others about the date of birthday and enhance their communication ability in terms of the topic of birthday and date.

How:The conversation is short but mainly includes the target expressions of “when….”. At the same time, they include some words of months and ordinal numbers which gives a good review to cardinal numbers,

By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

1. 语言能力:(1) master the expression of monthly words and ordinal words from January to December.

(2) master the basic sentence patterns of the date of inquiry and reply.

(3) master the correct expression and pronunciation of dates

2. 学习能力:actively cooperate with others to complete the role play and ask about the birthday conversation; learn how to talk about birthday dates by learning new words and patterns; improve your ability to look at pictures and videos.

3. 文化意识: compare the differences between Chinese and western cultures in expressing dates, and recognize this difference, and apply it to cross-cultural communication.

4. 思维品质:think accordingly when watching the video to improve the ability of observation and discrimination;find out their changing rules and summarize them when observe cardinals and ordinals,

Step 1 T greets students. Then T shows a video about birthday party and asks them a question “What are the people in the video doing?”

 

Ss watch the video and answer the question “ They are having a birthday party.” A video can attract Ss and let them pay more attention to the topic of birthday.

Step 2 T asks Ss to free talk about these two questions:

1. Do you know your birthday?

2. Do you know how to talk about the date of birthday in English?

Watching TV and find the expressions can practice Ss’s ability of viewing and thinking ability.
