What:A conversation about choosing different school clubs

Why:Let students know how to choose a right school clubs.

How:The situation of the conversations provides many words of school clubs which provide a good review of them. At the same time, it offers Ss a context for Ss to learn grammar about modal verb can.

 

教学目标

By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

1. 语言能力:master key vocabulary and sentence patterns;master the usage of modal verb can, as well as its positive sentence, negative sentence and general interrogative sentence structure

2. 学习能力:read the dialogue carefully to understand the details and improve your reading ability; transfer and transform the usage of positive sentences, negative sentences and general interrogatives of modal verbs can  in the practice and production part, actively participate in dialogue exercises, and improve listening and speaking ability.

3. 文化意识:perceive and experience the club culture, improve self-awareness and understanding, and know how to choose the right club for your abilities.

4. 思维品质:use previous knowledge to infer the relationship between positive sentences, negative sentences and general questions to improve thinking skills.

Step 1 T greets students. Then T invites to Ss watch a video . And then T asks a question “What are they talking about?”

(2) Last, T shows the answer to them in PPT.

Ss watch a video and then think about question and then actively answer T.

Presentation (15)
Step 2 T asks Ss to read the passage quickly to get an idea of what the conversation is about. Ss read conversation  quickly and to think about the main idea. It can practice Ss’s ability of skimming.
Step 3 T asks Ss to read conversation and lets them answer the following questions:

l What club does Bob want to join?

l Does Jane speak English well?

l What sports can Bob play?

l What club does Jane will join?

A. English club

B. Art club

C. Both A and B

 

 

 

 

Ss read conversation and answer the questions.

 

Conversations in 2d provides a good context for grammar learning so reading them can help Ss firstly know the grammar rules or phenomena and also improve their reading ability.
